On Wednesday 25th October 2023, the Media, Youth, Sports and Culture Committee (MYSCC) hosted an outreach activity in commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the National Assembly. Invited to visit the National Assembly precinct were Young Members of the Seychelles National Youth Assembly (SNYA). The Committee was represented by Chairperson Hon. Wavel Woodcock, Vice-Chairperson Hon. Philip Arissol, Hon. Kelly Samynadin, Hon. Conrad Gabriel, Hon. Naddy Zialor, Hon. Wilbert Herminie, with assistance provided by Committee Secretary Mr. Vincent Quatre.
The activity began with SNYA watching a live Sitting of the Assembly in the Public Gallery, until the first break at 1030hrs. This was followed with a brief presentation given by the Information Centre Manager Ms. Thelma Joseph and Documentation Assistant Ms. Petra Tirant. The Committee, accompanied by the Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly Ms. Alexandria Faure, then began an interactive session with the Young Members, beginning with a presentation by Hon. Samynadin on the role of the National Assembly as the Legislative body. Subsequently, the Deputy Clerk detailed the roles of the Office of the Clerk and the Secretariat, as the driving forces behind the scenes.
A final presentation was given by the Chairperson Hon. Woodcock on the role of the MYSCC, its mandates, and its impacts in society.
The group participated in lively discussions with the Hon. Members and Deputy Clerk while enjoying refreshments, before concluding the eventful and educational activity.
