The Media Youth and Culture Committee (MYCC) met with Mr. Jean Larue, the CEO of the National Sports Council (NSC) at the National Assembly in the Member’s Lounge on 10th November 2021.
The meeting was organised following MYCC visits to Praslin and La Digue to assess the condition of several sports infrastructures mandated by the NSC. Therefore, the aim of the meeting was to follow up and address concerns raised from the visits. The committee had many apprehensions on the state of the infrastructures and facilities which they described as deplorable and called upon NSC to attend to these issues.
Mr. Larue was forthcoming on the topic and openly discussed the numerous works; ongoing or future; being done by the NSC to improve Praslin and La Digue’s sport facilities. He affirmed that the NSC, despite its lack of resources, remains determined to solve these issues.
The members expressed their thanks to Mr. Larue for his continued cooperation by easing the committee’s oversight role as well as enabling and its mandate of capacity building of the youth to materialise. Both parties are optimistic for the future of sports on Praslin and La Digue.
