On the afternoon of Tuesday 2nd July, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Gervais Henrie was presented with the Financial Stability Report 2023, by the Governor of the Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS) Ms. Caroline Abel. The Governor was accompanied by the First Deputy Governor CBS Mr. Brian Commettant, Senior Communications Officer Mrs. Sharon Uranie, CEO of Financial Services Authority (FSA) Mr. Randolf Samson, and the Director of the Seychelles Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Mr. Richard Rampal.

The Deputy Speaker greeted the delegation and expressed his gratitude for the presentation of the Report. Ms. Abel stated that this report is periodically issued six months into the new year as a result of the Financial Stability Act, which was passed in 2023. It was also noted that this is the first presentation of the Report to the National Assembly under this new legislation. Governor Abel remarked that this first report is intended to be more informative and generally comprehensive, in order to give the general public a better understanding of Financial Stability and related concepts of financial literacy. The Governor noted that future reports will outline the ongoing efforts to improve public education and resilience towards financial matters.

Hon. Henrie commended the delegation for the production of the Report and noted that this, among future Reports produced by the CBS, should be used for the advancement of financial understanding amongst the public and for use by Members of the National Assembly. The fruitful meeting then came to a close.
