On Tuesday 10th of December 2024, UN Women Regional Policy Specialist Ms. Maureen Shonge met with the Clerk of the National Assembly Mrs. Tania Isaac, and Deputy Clerk Ms. Alexandria Faure.

The main aim of the meeting was to explore potential collaborations between the Parliament and UN Women. Ms. Shonge provided a comprehensive overview of the work of UN Women, highlighting the work UN Women has conducted in various parliaments such as Kenya, Tanzania, and Malawi among others. She took the opportunity to share invaluable insights into UN Women’s ongoing initiatives.

Discussions were focused on the ways in which UN Women could partner with the Assembly in different areas such as capacity-building on various aspects related to women’s participation in politics and gender equality, as well as the provision of technical assistance in conducting assessments and policy making.
