As part of the benchmarking visit being carried out by the delegation of women parliamentarians from Zimbabwe two meetings were held on Thursday 6th June 2024 with the Minister for Youth, Sports and Family Mrs. Marie-Celine Zialor and Minister for Employment and Social Affairs Mrs. Patricia Francourt. The group of parliamentarians from the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus are in Seychelles on a benchmarking and advocacy visit from 1st to 8th June 2024 with the aim to mobilise for women’s empowerment in politics, influence on anti-corruption policies and resource mobilisation.

The Chairperson of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus of Seychelles, Hon. Regina Esparon chaired the meetings and was accompanied by other Members of the Caucus, Hon. Doyace Porice and Hon. Desheila Bastienne. The Zimbabwean parliamentarians were very much interested in understanding the portfolios of Minister Zialor and Minister Francourt with active discussions taking place on matters such as budget allocation for social protection for the vulnerable; rehabilitation programs for women and children; employment; women in management positions and areas of collaboration. The Zimbabwean delegation expressed that the work of both Ministries was impressive and that they would highlight some practices and programmes to apply them back home in Zimbabwe. The Ministers were honored to be able to have the fruitful discussions with the parliamentarians and deemed the meeting to be a very successful one.
