How do I contact an MNA?

You can contact Members of the National Assembly at their district offices or through the contacts provided in the Directory of MNAs.

Remember, it is best to include your own address when you write to your MNA so that they will know you live in their constituency.

What is the purpose of a Parliamentary Committee?

Parliamentary Committees play several important roles, such as providing oversight, reviewing legislation, investigating and inquiring into matters of public concern, consulting with the public, amongst others! To learn more about the different Committees of the National Assembly, check out the ‘Committees’ tab.

When are the Sittings of the National Assembly?

Sittings of the National Assembly are usually scheduled every Tuesday and Wednesday from 09:00AM to 17:00PM.

How can I get involved in Parliamentary activities or initiatives?

If you are hosting an event, such as a school job fair, that would benefit from the participation of MNAs or National Assembly Service Staff, contact the Office of the Clerk through clerk@nationalassembly.sc or deputyclerk@nationalassembly.sc to discuss this further.  

Can I take photographs or film inside the Parliament Building?

No. The Parliamentary Precinct, its Members, and all National Assembly Service Staff must be always treated with the utmost respect. Visitors are kindly asked not to bring any photography devices, including mobile phones.

Can a Member of the Public attend a Parliamentary Sitting?

Can I watch a Parliamentary Sitting online?

Certainly! Each Parliamentary Sitting is livestreamed on the National Assembly YouTube Channel

Is parking available for visitors to the Parliamentary Precinct?

Yes! Parking is available for the public through the access of Gate 2.  

What is the acceptable dress code while attending a Parliamentary proceeding?

All visitors are asked to dress modestly, in both clothing and footwear.
