Hon. Rocky Uranie was born on the 28th of July, 1975 and is a teacher by profession. After completing four years of studies at the Polytechnic School of Education and Community Studies, he came out as a Mathematics, Science and Creole teacher for Upper Primary Education. A few years later, Hon. Uranie decided to move on and teach Mathematics at Secondary Level whereby he became the Head of the Mathematics and Science Department of the La Digue Secondary School.
He chose to expand his horizon by studying Computing in 2005 until the end of 2007. He followed and completed the course of ‘Master Trainer (ICT)’ which made him capable of training teachers on how to use computers. Apart from that, he also taught on part-time basis at the Adult Learning and Distance Education Centre (ALDEC) and at the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA).
The Honorable Member also followed several local and international courses in his lifetime. He even went to Japan to form part of the JICA Youth Invitation Program.
Hon. Uranie is a Member of the Committee on Government Assurances (COGA) and the House Committee, He also serves on the Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee as a Member of the Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF).
