The Honourable Ms. Rachel Spiro was born on the 22nd August 1965, and is a resident of La Louise.
Her professional career began in the realm of media, where she worked as a Press Photographer, and later a researcher for the Ministry of Information and Culture. Hon. Spiro passionately advocated for Consumer Rights and Information, leading to her employment in the National Consumers Forum as a Communications Officer, followed by the position of Executive Director.
Her leap into the political sphere began with a career in the government of the time, where she was designated Ministerial Attaché to the Office of Vice President from 2007 to 2010, and later the Ministerial Attaché to the Office of the Minister of Education and Human Resources. In 2012, Hon. Spiro became a District Administrator, a position which she held until 2021. Her final employment, before becoming a Honourable Member, was as the Finance & Admin Manager for the Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (CEPS).
In February 2024, she took the Oath and was sworn in as a Proportionally Elected Member for US, in the 7th Assembly.
Hon. Spiro's personal interests are in the preservation of cultural heritage, photography, and assisting in debates.
