Honorable Philip Monthy was born on the 4th of May 1975, and is the 10th child of a large family of 11.
He is a fully qualified French teacher with over 20 years of experience in Education.
Fresh from his studies in Besancon, France in 1997, he was sent to Beau Vallon School for six months, and then transferred to the NYS, Port Launay in 1998, where as a young teacher he was tasked with the challenge of teaching French ‘O Level’. He has also taught at the Belonie Secondary school for two and a half years before leaving the teaching profession in 2001 to seek greener pastures in Boston Massachusetts in the USA where he stayed and work for almost three years.
Moving back in the Seychelles in 2003, he started a long career at the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA) as a French lecturer. His hard work ethics saw him move through the ranks over the years, and it was no surprise when he was appointed as Director of Studies in 2016, a post which he held until 2018.
Hon. Monthy is about to complete his online Masters Program in Educational Leadership & Management with the University of Mauritius.
Before venturing into politics, he was the Assistant Director of the Seychelles Institute of Distance and Open Learning (SIDOL) in 2019 and was occupying the post of Quality Assurance officer at the Seychelles Institute of Teacher Education (SITE).
He also made history during the last 2020 National Assembly elections when he became the first person from an Opposition Party to win the constituency of Cascade.
Hon. Monthy is serving as a Member on the Committe of Government Assurances (COGA) and the International Affairs Committee (IAC).
