The late Hon. Rosie Bistoquet, born on the 26th of July 1961 and deceased on the 21st of December 2023, was a proud mother of 2 children and lived in the District of Pointe Larue for 41 years.

Before becoming a Member of Parliament, Hon. Bistoquet worked as a Nurse and Midwife since 1981.

Hon. Bistoquet acquired the ability to lead and manage human and financial resources in the Health Sector over the course of her career, and this gave her the opportunity to be promoted to the Director for Family Health and Nutrition. In her position as Director, she was able to provide strategic direction to the Ministry of Health and other non-health sectors in primary prevention of diseases in Seychelles through nine National Public Programmes in areas related to - Child Health, School Health, Maternal Health, Sexual and reproductive, Youth Health, HIV AIDS, Nutrition and Expanded Programme of Immunization and Diabetes Prevention Programmes.

The above-mentioned activities led to her close affiliation with international, bilateral, and multi-lateral partners in monitoring and evaluation of health indicators, namely the World Health Organisation (WHO), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) United Nations Programme on HIV/AID (UNAIDS), Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Hon. Bistoquet reached a few milestones as well, such as being the first Health Professional to develop a HIV Integrated Biological and Behavioural Surveillance Survey amongst Female Sex Workers which was conducted in Angola, Mauritius, and Seychelles as the lead investigator. Moreover, she was the first lead investigator to undertake a national assessment of Body Composition in Children Using the Stable Isotope Deuterium Dilution Technique for Seychelles. Being a health professional, she also served as an Executive Member of the Red Cross Society of Seychelles, as a volunteer, for seven years.

The late Hon. Bistoquet was a Proportional Member of the 7th National Assembly, before her untimely passing in 2023. She served as the Chairperson of the Committee on Communicable Diseases, HIV/AIDS and SRHR. In addition, she was also a Member of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus and the Standing Orders Committee. Hon. Bistoquet also served on the on the Democratisation, Good Governance and Human Rights Committee, in her time as a Member of the Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF).
