Mrs. Tania Isaac was appointed as the Honourable Clerk of the National Assembly of Seychelles on the 4th of August 2020 after a selection process by an independent body appointed by the Speaker of the National Assembly. Prior to her appointment, she was the Deputy Clerk for 4 years with portfolio responsibilities for the Public Relations & Protocol, Parliamentary Reporters, Information Centre and ICT Departments. She has over 10 years’ experience working for the legislature in different roles and has received trainings for senior level parliamentary staff from regional and international organisations.
Mrs. Isaac has led the Parliament in many transformational projects including the creation of the Parliamentary Museum, reviewing the renumeration & Organisational structure of the Secretariat and creation of the Committee Services Department, to name a few. She was a Member of the Seychelles Media Commission from 2014 to 2016 and has represented the National Assembly in local and international meetings.
Mrs. Isaac is currently a Member of the CPA Society of Clerks at the Table (SOCATT), the SADC Parliamentary Forum’s Committee of Clerks, Association for Secretary Generals of Parliament (ASGP) and worked with CPA as a facilitator.
Before joining the National Assembly Service, Mrs. Isaac worked with the Social Development Department of the Ministry of Social Affairs & Employment in 2001 after the completion of a BA in Human Geography from the University of Leicester, UK. She was one of the pioneers of that Department, first as Researcher in the Gender Unit and later Senior Researcher in the Population Unit. She was appointed as a Member of the National Bureau of Statistics from 2009 to 2012 and gained a wealth of experience in research and policy planning on gender and population issues such as children, youth, people living with disabilities, elderly and gender equality among others.
