The newly elected Members of the 7th Cohort of the Seychelles National Assembly attended an induction programme yesterday morning, headed by the Clerk and Deputy Clerk, which had the main aim and objective of equipping the Members to better understand their role as legislators.
Parliamentarians play a pivotal role in the country, especially when it comes to scrutinising Bills, overseeing government actions and having a representative role. Therefore, it is for the aforementioned reasons that every Member of Parliament has received the necessary directives and training on a number of procedures to ensure that they are able to execute their duties accordingly.
This workshop has deepened their insight into parliamentary affairs, parliamentary discipline and privileges, Standing Orders and it also had a detailed explanation of the role of each of the National Assembly’s departments, so they know exactly where to go for any matters relating to their legislative work.
