On Friday 11th October 2024 the Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC), chaired by the Leader of the Opposition Hon. Sebastien Pillay, conducted a site visit to Air Seychelles. Chairperson Hon. Pillay was accompanied by Vice-Chairperson Hon. Terence Mondon, Hon. Sandy Arissol, and Hon. Georges Romain. Assistance was provided by Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly and Committee Secretary Ms. Alexandria Faure, Second Secretary Ms. Shannon Surman, and Assistant Committee Secretary Ms. Sheryl Rangasamy.
The purpose of the visit was to obtain a comprehensive financial overview of the organization and insight into its technical and operational aspects. Chairperson of the Board of Air Seychelles Captain Francois Jackson, accompanied by other Board Members and Level 1 Management including Chief Executive Officer Mr. Sandy Benoiton, welcomed the Committee. The presentations made to the Committee covered the organizational structure of Air Seychelles, its technical and ground operations, and detailed financial information of each department. The Committee was apprised of the ways in which the organization was able to effectively reduce its debt and increase its profitability.
The Members had the opportunity to pose pertinent questions to Captain Jackson and the senior team and engage in thorough discussions. Following the presentations, the Committee visited various key departments including the Cargo and FedEx section, technical operations, Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Department, the VIP and CIP Lounge, Baggage Makeup Area (BMA) International and Domestic, Domestic Terminal (landside), and the Ground Operations Department. The Committee had the opportunity to interact with various staff across the different sections and gain valuable operational insights.
