The Environmental Policy Implementation Committee (EPIC) of the National Assembly Service celebrated Earth Day 2024 by conducting a clean-up of the National Assembly’s adopted wetlands on Friday 19th April 2024. The clean-up was hosted in collaboration with Parley Seychelles, who provided ample support and resources throughout the activity.
The National Assembly’s wetlands, adopted in 2022, is home to the ‘Manglier Rouz’ (Rhizophora mucronata), a commonly found mangrove species in Seychelles. By adopting the wetlands, the National Assembly is continuously and sustainably committed to protecting and managing this important ecosystem.
In keeping with this commitment, members of EPIC and other Parliamentary Staff made a concerted effort to clean the area and managed to collect a total of 83.4kg worth of plastic debris and general litter from the area.
