The Social Committee of the National Assembly headed by its chairperson Ms. Samia Lebon and Vice-Chairman Ms. Stephie Soomery handed a charitable donation to the Vice- Chairman of AGWAC, Mr. Christopher Thomas, in the presence of staff from the secretariat and two children who will benefit from the donation.
The secretariat and Members of the National Assembly through the initiative of the social committee humbly donated various items with the spirit of helping and giving to the less fortunate. The social Committee encouraged Members and Staff of the institution to generously donate anything they could and put it all together to donate to those in need.
The donation was successful as many items such as school bags, clothes shoes, and many other accessories were donated. It was decided that the donations will go towards a newly formed charitable group based in the Perseverance district AGWAC (A Group with A Cause). The non-governmental organization which aims to help children in the communities happily accepted the donations.
Ms. Samia Lebon, chairperson of the social committee expressed that it was a pleasure for the committee and the National Assembly to do such gestures with the community in mind. Furthermore, this donation is a first but definitely not the last that the National Assembly through the social Committee does to help those in need in the community.
On behalf of the AGWAC group, Mr. Christopher Thomas, the Vice-Chairman of the group extended his gratitude and appreciation for this gesture. Mr. Thomas explained that these items will go towards the children in the communities that are in need.
