The newly accredited Ambassador of Ghana to Seychelles, H.E. Charles Asuako Owiredu, paid a Courtesy Call on the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Roger Mancienne, this morning. Speaker Mancienne was accompanied by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Gervais Henrie and the Clerk to the National Assembly, Mrs. Tania Isaac.

The Speaker congratulated Ambassador Charles Asuako Owiredu on his accreditation and welcomed him to the National Assembly.

The Ambassador highlighted the strong historical relationship between the Seychelles and Ghana, which dates back to the 1900s. He mentioned the agreements signed between the two countries including a general cooperation agreement, avoidance of double taxation agreement, visa waiver for agreement and an agreement regarding re-exportation of tuna from Seychelles. The two parties discussed expanding existing relations that are meaningful to the two countries such as Education, Tourism, and Fisheries.

During the meeting, Ambassador Asuako Owiredu, the Speaker, Deputy Speaker and the Clerk exchanged experiences about the current parliamentary affairs for both countries.

Speaker Mancienne thanked Ambassador. Charles Asuako Owiredu for his visit and expressed his interest in strengthening the bilateral cooperation between Ghana and Seychelles in parliamentary diplomacy.

Ambassador Charles Asuako Owiredu was accompanied by a delegation consisting of the Deputy Head of Mission Mr. Japhet Ofosu-Appiah, Mrs. Hilda Hinidza-Elluh, the Minister-Counsellor/IPAD, and Mr. Moses Abukari the Protocol Officer.
