The newly accredited Ambassador of Portugal to Seychelles, H.E. Mr. Antonio Costa Moura paid a Courtesy Call on the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Roger Mancienne. Speaker Mancienne was accompanied by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Gervais Henrie and the Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly Ms. Alexandria Faure.
The Speaker Congratulated Ambassador Moura on his accreditation and welcomed him to the National Assembly.
During the meeting, both Ambassador Moura and the Speaker discussed areas of common interests including the strengthening of relations between both countries and exploring new avenues for further collaboration in a variety of sectors such as fisheries, sports and the protection of the environment.
The Ambassador also congratulated Seychelles on its progress thus far and highlighted the need for more exchanges and cooperation between the National Assembly and the Parliament in Portugal.
The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Gervais Henrie, suggested that Sports will be a key area where Seychelles and Portugal can start a discussion for potential exchanges and support. Speaker Mancienne thanked the Ambassador for his visit and expressed enthusiasm for further discussions of the establishment of a Parliamentary friendship group for the exchanges of best practices.
Ambassador Moura also made a courtesy call to the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Sebastien Pillay.
