The National Assembly hosted a Long Service Award Ceremony for Members of Parliament and Parliamentary Staff yesterday afternoon on Tuesday 03rd August 2021 as part of its extended activities to commemorate its 28th Anniversary which took place last week on the 30th of July.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Honourable Roger Mancienne made his opening remarks to thank the Members and Staff of the Secretariat for their service to the parliament. He expressed his gratitude for all the hard work that is undertaken at the parliament on a daily basis and applauded the continued dedication of each and every single Parliamentarian and Secretariat Staff.

In the ceremony, Members who had served 10 years of Service and Staff with 5 years of service and above were awarded.

The Deputy Speaker, Honourable Gervais Henrie presented awards to the Leader of the Opposition, Honourable Sebastien Pillay for 10 years of service, Honourable Terence Mondon for 12 years of service and the Leader of Government Business, Honourable Bernard Georges for 13 years of service.

The Honourable Speaker, Mr Roger Mancienne presented awards to Honourable Regina Esparon as the Current Longest Serving Woman Parliamentarian and Honourable Waven William with 21 years of service and as Current Longest Serving Member of parliament.

The Deputy Clerk, Ms Alexandria Faure presented awards to staff who had served for 5-6 years such as Mr. Antoine Rose, Mrs. Genevieve Morel, Mr. Godfra Hermitte, Ms. Jelline Quatre, Ms. Florette Monnaie, Ms. Denise Johnny and Mr. Georges Ravignia.

The Clerk of the National Assembly, Mrs Tania Isaac presented awards to staff with 10 years of service such as Ms. Samia Lebon and Mr. Jim David. Last but not least, Mrs. Ghislaine Thelermont was awarded for being the longest serving employee of the parliament with 21 years of service.

In her closing remarks, Mrs Isaac highlighted the contribution of Parliamentary staff over the years in upholding the procedures and traditions of the Parliament. She also thanked the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, the Leaders and all the Members of the National Assembly for their continued support and cooperation. Lastly, Mrs Isaac urged the Secretariat to keep the team work and innovative spirit as they continue to grow and contribute to the evolution of the institution.
