The Defence and Security Committee of the National Assembly that is Chaired by Hon. Clifford Andre held visits at the Grand Anse Praslin Police Station, Baie Ste Anne Police Station and the Praslin Seychelles Fire and Rescue Station situated at Ile Eve. The Committee also visited the former Police station, the present Police station as well as the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Station on La Digue. These visits took place on Friday 30th to Saturday 31st July 2021.
Members of the Committee had the opportunity to have on-site knowledge of all infrastructures and services that are needed in line with the Budget requirements. During the visits the Members of the Committee also had a chance to interact with staff of the respective Departments. The common issues which were also taken up were the lack of infrastructures and the need to strengthen support from concerned stakeholders and MDAs.
Other Members of the Committee who attended the visits were Hon. Francois Adelaide, Hon. Sandy Arissol, Hon. Churchill Gill, Hon. Michel Roucou and Hon. Doyace Porice. Hon. Gervais Henrie also attended in his capacity as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly. The visits were led by the Commissioner of Police Mr Ted Barbe, the Assistant Superintendent, Mr Andre Joseph and Sub-Inspector, Ms Stephanie Lewis, Inspector Jeris Dufrene, Sub-Inspector, Mr Mervin Samson, Assistant Divisional Officer, Mr Antoine Souris and Sub-Station Officer, Mr Peter Cheri. There were also respective MNAs and DAs for each district of these two Islands.
