On Tuesday 27th July 2021, the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus, Chaired by Hon. Regina Esparon met with the Minister for Youth, Sports and Family Affairs, Mrs Marie Celine Zialor and Mrs Patricia Francourt, the Minister for Employment and Social Affairs in Committee Room 3 at the National Assembly.
The meeting was held for the Caucus to garner support from the two Ministries on their continuous work in combating Sexual/Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and Seychelles’ signing of the AU Protocol on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Discussions revolved mainly around the receipt of financial and technical help from SADC and/or the EU to fight SGBV by spreading awareness on the topic and building local stakeholders’ capacity. The Ministers expressed eagerness to further collaborate with the Caucus on the matter.
Also in attendance were - P.S Linda William-Melanie and P.S Clive Roucou who accompanied their Ministers and were able to give their point of view on the matters at hand.
