This morning on Tuesday the 25th of May 2021, the National Assembly welcomed a new Member of the 7th Assembly. Hon. Jany Letourdi swore in at 0900hrs replacing Mr. Clive Roucou as a new Proportionately Elected Member for the Linyon Demokratik Seselwa.
This was done in accordance with Article 81 of the Constitution which prescribes that a Member may cease to be a Member of the National Assembly and that the seat occupied by that person shall become vacant, and in this case by the political party nominating another person to occupy the seat by informing the Speaker in writing.
The Honorable Member, Ms. Jany Letourdi was born on the 21st October 1961.
Her journey started by singing at political rallies, thus fostering her enthusiasm for politics. She was previously an employee of the Ministry of Culture for twenty years. Already a prominent songstress and she has to her name a gold medal award for songs, won at the Jeux de la Francophonie held in Madagascar in 1997, a silver jubilee award for her contribution to the Creole language and she is featured on the Wall of Fame at the Ministry of Culture.
In September 2016, she became a proportionately elected Member of the 6th National Assembly for Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS).
Hon. Letourdi has once again been chosen as a proportionately elected Member of the 7th National Assembly for the Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS).
