The delivery of the Budget Address by the Minister for Finance, Trade and Economic Planning, Mr. Naadir Hassan, scheduled for Tuesday February 9th, 2021, has been postponed after one of the Minister’s close contacts has tested positive for Covid-19.
The Minister has so far tested negative but in line with health protocols he has been advised by the Health authorities to remain in quarantine until a further test.
The new date of the Budget Address has been tentatively set for February 16, 2021.
Sittings of the National Assembly have been suspended for the week of February 08 on the advice of the Public Health Commissioner pending final PCR tests for Members who attended a meeting on Saturday January 31 in which one of the participants later tested positive for Covid-19.
The first round of tests for the Members were conducted on Saturday February 06 and all results were negative. The second round of tests will be done this week.
