The National Assembly was summoned for its first meeting of the 7th Cohort by the President of the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Mr Wavel Ramkalawan.
This meeting was held yesterday, on Wednesday the 28th of October, 2020 at the precinct of the National Assembly of Seychelles, Ile du Port, and began at 10:00AM.
The President of Seychelles, H.E Mr Wavel Ramkalawan and the Vice President, H.E Mr Ahmed Afif, were in attendance for the ceremony yesterday morning, whereby Hon. Roger Mancienne swore in as the newly elected Speaker to the National Assembly.
The exiting Speaker, Mr Nicholas Prea, presided over the first Sitting in the morning before the new Speaker was elected.
Hon. Gervais Henrie, the elected Member of the district of Mont Buxton was also elected as the new Deputy Speaker to the National Assembly.
Apart from the election of the new Speaker and Deputy Speaker to the National Assembly, there was also the election of the Leader of the Opposition (LOTO) and the Leader of Government Business (LGB) in yesterday’s first meeting.
Hon. Sebastien Pillay has been elected as the new Leader of the Opposition, whereas Hon. Bernard Georges has been elected as the new Leader of Government Business.
