The National Assembly has started to take more control of its own Parliamentary Broadcasting.
The Hon. Speaker Nicholas Prea had the honour of cutting the ribbon to officially launch the Media Operations and Broadcasting Unit of the National Assembly in the presence of the Clerk, Mrs. Tania Isaac and other members of Management of the Secretariat yesterday morning.
This is a momentous occasion for the National Assembly and another milestone for the 6th Assembly. The final transition from SBC to the National Assembly will be completed in the months to come with the National Assembly having full control of the broadcasting of live debates and production of programmes for the Institution. The Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation has been instrumental at every step of this process and will remain a close partner to the National Assembly.
The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted the National Assembly to change several of its usual procedures and this new Unit is in line with the theme of the International Day of Parliamentarism which took place last month entitled “Parliaments in a time of pandemic”. It’s an opportune time to bring the National Assembly to the people and help in the prevention of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
