Mandate
The Defence and Security Committee is mandated to have oversight on the Seychelles People’s Defence Force, the Seychelles Police and all Government Agencies involved with National security, including Intelligence services. Members of the Defence and Security Committee shall subscribe to an oath or solemn affirmation of secrecy as per schedule 3 of the Seychelles Intelligence Service Act, 2018 and these terms of reference.
Terms of Reference
Subject to these terms of reference and the Seychelles Intelligence Service Act, 2018 the National Assembly Defence and Security Committee shall be to:
- Establish a close collaboration with the Seychelles People’s Defence Force, the Seychelles Police and Government Agencies involved with National security and Intelligence services.
- Discuss and scrutinize the budget allocation for the Seychelles People’s Defence Force, the Seychelles Police and Government Agencies involved with National security and Intelligence services.
- Consult with Seychelles People’s Defence Force, the Seychelles Police and Government Agencies involved with National security and Intelligence on their development plans.
- Receive reports from Seychelles People’s Defence Force, the Seychelles Police and Government Agencies involved with National security and Intelligence.
- Subscribe to an oath or solemn affirmation of secrecy as per schedule 3 of the Seychelles Intelligence Service Act, 2018 and to this term of reference.
