The International Affairs Committee (IAC) chaired by Hon. Jean-Francois Ferrari met with the Ambassadors of Seychelles during their current Ambassadors Retreat at the STC Conference Room on Friday 20th December 2019.
The aim of this first collective meeting, which was requested by the IAC, was for the Members of the Committee to meet the Ambassadors face to face and to participate in discussions focused on the main lines of action of the diplomatic missions and the important work that has taken place within their respective jurisdictions.
During the meeting, each Ambassador present provided a brief scope on the work of their offices overseas, as well as put forward the achievements and challenges they each face within their jurisdictions.
The Principal Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Marina Confait, of whom was also accompanied by Ms. Myrna Hoareau, Principal Counsellor for Public Diplomacy and Dr. Jemma Simeon, Principal Counsellor – PS of the Secretariat, mentioned the importance of open dialogue in order to provide the necessary information and to improve the ongoing engagement with the Committee. The Members were also able to ask questions and participate in open discussions on the effectiveness, challenges and functions of the diplomatic missions in order to better understand their operations abroad.
The Ambassadors present were as follows; Ambassador Sylvestre Radegonde, Ambassador Vivianne Fock Tave, High Commissioner Selby Pillay, Ambassador Ronny Jumeau, High Commissioner Derick Ally, High Commissioner Marie-Antoinette Rose Quatre, Ambassador Jean-Claude Adrienne, Ambassador Lalatiana Accouche and Chargé d’Affaires, Ms. Gayathri Pillay.
