The National Assembly of Seychelles is seeking to recruit a highly competent, committed, self-motivated and enthusiastic Seychellois candidate for the position of:

Public Relations Officer

As the Public Relations Officer, you will be responsible to the Public Relations, Communications and Protocol Manager. You will play an important role in creatively handling various Public Relations platforms such as social media, website and other digital media platforms on the Public Relations & Communications team. This role will also allow you to work closely with other Departments/Sections/Units within the National Assembly Secretariat and collaborate across the different National Assembly Committees, the press, civil society organizations, schools, international organizations and other Governmental entities for the implementation of online and Public Relations related outreach and promotional activities.

 

Main duties and responsibilities:
1. Assist with the conceptualization, coordination and development of the National Assembly’s strategy in the field of Public Relations, as well as provide Public Relations support in all activities organized by the National Assembly

2. Assist with the preparation of publicity materials including press releases, articles, leaflets, newsletters, brochures, information for websites and promotional audio and videos, to inform the general public on the different activities of the National Assembly

3. Promote events of the National Assembly such as press conferences, exhibitions, tours and visits, as well as ensure that all postings on the National Assembly’s website and Facebook page are accurate and contents are kept up to date, with responsibility for editing and maintaining institutional branding and information

4. Work in close collaboration with the Parliamentary ICT Unit and other teams to coordinate the digital media public relations content, marketing of outreach campaigns and promotional activities for the National Assembly

5. Create and coordinate the creation of digital content (e.g. website, blogs, printing material, educational online content, press releases and podcasts) and effectively monitor and analyze performance of digital and social media channels

6. Take photos of events happening at the National Assembly or of any work related events outside of the National Assembly, as and when required

 

Qualifications and Experience
– Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Communications or equivalent, plus two years’ experience in Public Relations and/or Management
OR
– Diploma in Public Relations and Communications or equivalent, plus four years relevant work experience in a similar position
OR
– Adequate number of work experience gained within the Public Relations, marketing, fundraising, events promotion or journalism would be an advantage

 

Key Skills Required
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills
– Excellent interpersonal skills
– Strong understanding of political impartiality and ability to maintain confidentiality
– Familiarity with web design, video editing and content management systems
– Strong creative thinking, research, inter-personal and problem solving skills
– Ability to multitask in a very fast-paced, often rapidly-changing environment with minimum supervision
– Good knowledge of Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro or other media editing software a plus
– May be required to work outside of normal office hours and during weekends

 

Remuneration

The post is graded at Salary Band 5
Salary will depend on qualifications and experience. Includes allowances
