The International Affairs Committee of the National Assembly has been in communication with the Department of Foreign Affairs over a series of agreements and conventions that the Seychelles has been signing parties and those that require accession procedures.
Two agreements have been discussed and the Department of Foreign Affairs has committed the government’s support to ensuring that our country is in line with those instruments.
- UN Programme on Illicit trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons.
Seychelles has stated that it is indeed complying with a number of requirements under this treaty. The Department of Foreign Affairs recognizes however, that some reports need to be submitted.
- Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has stated that Seychelles has not yet signed or ratified this Convention, but that a memorandum has now been prepared for submission to the Council of Ministers. This, the DFA states, will be done through a joint presentation by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Legal Affairs.
