The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus conducted their introductory meeting yesterday where they met with stakeholders and civil society organizations to discuss upcoming activities.
Amongst the participants, the Caucus met with Mr. Benjamin Vel. Mr. Vel is a consultant working on the Report on the Convention of the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). The meeting addressed issues such as the conflict of laws, the Civil Code of Seychelles and Employment Act, Gender related issues, debated motions related to women and discrimination followed by equality in parliament.
The Women Parliamentary Caucus met with the Cancer Concern Association, the Ministry of Health, the Seychelles Women’s, and Sport Association to discuss the upcoming event in October 2019 – The Cancer Awareness Month. The Caucus and its stakeholders will be organizing a Breast and Cervix Cancer Awareness Campaign aiming at raising the awareness of the benefits of early detection.
