The newly accredited High Commissioner of Canada to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Mrs Pamela O’Donnell, met with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Nicholas Prea earlier today.
Both High Commissioner O’Donnell and Speaker Prea spoke of the various common interests that exists between Canada and Seychelles, which includes multi-party democracy, environmental protection, climate change and gender equality. In addition, they also discussed areas of further collaboration, especially between the two National Parliaments whereby the partnerships can be further enhanced to allow the sharing of best parliamentary practices.
The meeting also involved topics highlighting key areas that could be further developed for cooperation including the Blue Economy, as well as the involvement of the National Assembly in the next Conference of Speakers & Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth that will be taking place in Canada in January 2020.
Speaker Prea was accompanied by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Ms. Jutta Alexis.
High Commissioner O’Donnel also paid a courtesy call to the Leader of Government Business, Hon. Charles De Commarmond.
