The Ambassador of the Commonwealth of Australia to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Ms. Jenny Dee met with the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Ahmed Afif earlier today.
During the meeting both Ambassador Dee and the Deputy Speaker, who was also accompanied by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Ms. Jutta Alexis, expressed appreciation for the long standing friendship that has existed between Australia and Seychelles.
During the meeting both Ambassador Dee and the Deputy Speaker discussed areas of common interests including the strengthening of relations between both countries through, especially in regards to the stable growth and focus on the environment, the shared commonwealth values on democracy, as well as the ongoing capacity building for the strengthening of border controls to combat the serious drugs problem the country is currently facing.
Although the two countries have had very good bilateral relations, Ambassador Dee spoke of key areas of common interests that could be further developed for cooperation including the environment, climate change and gender equality.
Ambassador Dee will also be paying a courtesy call to the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Wavel Ramkalawan later this week.
