The newly accredited Ambassador of the Republic of Portugal to Seychelles, H.E. Mrs Maria Amelia Paiva met with the Speaker, Hon. Nicholas Prea on Wednesday morning.
The Speaker congratulated Ambassador Paiva on her new accreditation.
During the meeting both Ambassador Paiva and the Speaker, who was also accompanied by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Ms. Jutta Alexis, expressed appreciation for the long standing relations that has existed between Portugal and Seychelles and in addition highlighted key areas that could be further developed for cooperation including the Blue Economy, Maritime Museum and Fisheries Sector. Ambassador Paiva commended the National Assembly on its progress and on the good governance and stability that has been promoted in the country.
Key areas of common interests were also discussed involving further collaborations that could be explored between the Parliaments of the two countries.
Ambassador Paiva also paid a courtesy call to the Leader of Government Business, Hon. Charles De Commarmond and the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Wavel Ramkalawan.
