The very first High Commissioner of Ireland accredited to Seychelles, H.E Ambassador Paul Sherlock met with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Patrick Pillay this morning.
The Speaker welcomed Ambassador Sherlock congratulating him as the new Ambassador and conveyed sincere appreciation for the long lasting diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During the meeting both the Speaker and Ambassador Sherlock discussed the role of the Parliaments of Small Island Developing States in joining voices to express the rising issue of Climate Change. Ambassador Sherlock conveyed Ireland’s support in further enhancing cooperation ties with Seychelles and to exploring new avenues of collaboration in regards to Climate Change and the Blue Economy, as well as discussing the unique cohabitation and the progress of the 6th National Assembly. Ambassador Sherlock also paid a courtesy call to the Leader of Opposition, Hon. Wavel Ramkalawan whereby further talks were held.
Also present for the meeting was the Vice-Chairperson of the International Affairs Committee, Hon. Clifford Andre, the Clerk, Ms Jutta Alexis and the Personal Assistant to the Speaker, Mr Terry Romain.
