In line with the Citizenship Education Curriculum, the National Assembly regularly hosts school children and future teachers to help them better understand the role of the National Assembly and to further empower them to be proactive as members of their communities. As part of their visit, they have the opportunity to watch an Assembly Sitting, attend a Presentation on the role and function of the Assembly, interact with the Members of the National Assembly and get a Tour of the Museum featuring the history of the National Assembly. The National Assembly also hosts Senior Citizens, offering them a similar visit experience.
This week the National Assembly welcomed a vibrant group of SITE Students, students from Beau Vallon Secondary School and a group of Senior Citizens from the Glacis District. The SITE Students accompanied by their Lecturers Ms. Cynthia Renaud and Ms. Sandra Jeanne had the chance to meet the Speaker, Hon. Patrick Pillay. The students and the Senior Citizens got the chance to ask some of the Members questions, viewed a live Sitting and learned about the history of the National Assembly through a Tour.
Hon. Regina Esparon organized for the Beau Vallon Secondary School of whom were accompanied by Youth Worker, Ms. Cathrina Baron and the Senior Citizens from the Glacis District joined by Ms Livette Hermitte, Constituency Clerk for Glacis and the Chairperson of Senior Citizens Mrs. Ginette Charles. On their visit all three groups were able to interact with the Leader of Government Business, Hon. Charles De Commarmond, Hon. Jean-Francois Ferrari, Hon. Gervais Henrie, Hon. Noline Sophola, Hon. Wavel Woodcock, Hon. Jude Valmont, Hon. Audrey Vidot and Hon. Sebastien Pillay.
