The National Assembly of Seychelles The Secretaria

Monday 6th October, 2014

The Minister for Labour and Human Resources Development, Ms. Idith Alexander will be present for question time during this week’s sitting of the National Assembly.

The questions posed concern the following: assistance and training provided to mature job seekers; programs in place to assist post-secondary graduates seeking employment; negotiations to ensure graduates from Ireland are receiving standard benefits allocated to all graduates and the efficiency of private employment agencies.

Moreover, the Fisheries Bill will be presented to the House by the Minister for Natural Resources, Mr. Peter Sinon. The bill repeals the Fisheries Act, 1986 and seeks to provide for a modern fisheries regime to enable the Seychelles Fishing Authority (SFA) to implement and fulfill its obligations locally and internationally. If approved, it will provide for proper fisheries management and include specific arrangements for foreign vessels fishing in Seychelles waters.

Additionally, Hon. Bernard Arnephy, representative of the Anse Boileau district will present a motion to the House calling for the executive to scale up efforts to encourage Seychellois to engage in decent work and promote strong work ethics, while abridging laissez-faireism in the workplace.
