THIS WEEK – 8th July


The Minister for Land Use and Housing, Mr. Christian Lionnet will be in the National Assembly this week, to answer nine questions. These will include questions regarding the implementation of recommendations made in the
Capacity Study for La Digue; the Ministry’s plan to redevelop ‘Mirabel’ flats at Pointe Larue; and its plan to undertake urgent renovations and construction of proper drainages at Hangard Street.

The Minister for Home Affairs and Transport, Mr. Joel Morgan will also be present in this week’s sitting to answer an Urgent Question on the recent increase in criminal activities on Praslin and on the Ministry’s plan to tackle
the issue.

In addition, the Minister for Information Technology and Public Administration, the Vice President Mr. Danny Faure will present the Public Holidays (Amendment) Bill, 2014 while the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Alain St Ange will present the Creole Institute of Seychelles Bill, 2014. The Public Holidays (Amendment) Bill, 2014 seeks to amend the Public Holidays Act to change the National Day (18th June) as Constitution Day (18th June).

The Creole Institute of Seychelles Bill, 2014 seeks to establish a Creole Institute of Seychelles with a view to monitor, regulate and promote the development of the Seychellois language and culture and to provide for its objects, functions and powers and other related matters.
