SEYCHELLES AND CUBA CONTINUE TO STRENGTHEN RELATIONS
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Dr. Patrick Herminie, on Wednesday 27th November, 2013, received a delegation from the Republic of Cuba led by its Foreign Affairs Minister, H.E Mr. Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.

In a meeting held at the National Assembly building, Ile du Port, the Speaker described the visit as further proof of the strong relationship that exist between the two countries, the two peoples and the two parliaments.
The Speaker conveyed word of gratitude to the Government of Cuba for the support rendered to the people of Seychelles in various areas including health and agriculture, and the training of Seychellois professionals. He also praised Cuba for the steady achievements made as a nation especially in the field of bio-engineering.
The Speaker recalled the role played by Cuba in the liberation of several African Countries, including South Africa and Angola. The Speaker said that Africa should never forget to the latter, now that it is seeing rapid development resulting from the accumulation of wealth from natural resources such as oil and gas.
Minister Parrilla also conveyed greetings from the Speaker of the National Assembly of Cuba and expressed his appreciation for the support of Seychelles, in particular the effort of the National Assembly of Seychelles, in the fight for the release of the five Cuban imprisoned in the United States of America as well as against the blockade by the Americans. Next year, Speaker Herminie will be heading a delegation to Havana, Cuba where the next Cuba-Africa Solidarity Meeting will be held. The Speaker affirmed that he will take a solid stand on these two issues.
Minister Parrilla was accompanied on the visit by Mr. Angel Hernandez, Director of Sub-Saharan Africa, Mr. Orlando Alvarez Alvarez, Charge d’Affaire in Seychelles, Mr. Ernesto Gomez Diaz, Advisor to the Minister and Mrs. Beatriz Munoz Monzon.
