THE SPEAKER DISCUSSES THE STRENGHTENING OF RELATIONS WITH THE PRESIDENT OF SRI LANKA
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Dr. Patrick Herminie met with the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa where they held discussions on the bilateral relations of the two countries.
During the brief meeting, both the Speaker and His Excellency the President expressed the desire to see an increase in relations at the Parliamentary level especially with regards to the exchange of expertise and training of staff. Brief discussions were held on the creation of the Sri Lanka-Seychelles Friendship Association set up during the visit of the President, Mr. James Michel to Sri Lanka last year, and the study visit carried out by a delegation from the National Assembly of Seychelles to the Parliament of Sri Lanka. The possibilities of further exchange visits between the two Parliaments were also discussed.
The President, Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa then proceeded to address the National Assembly in an Extraordinary Sitting.
