COMMITEE ON GOVERNMENT ASSURANCES OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY VISITS CASCADE SCHOOL AND THE FISHERIES SECTOR
For the third time this year, Members of the Committee on Government Assurances (COGA) carried out site visits to monitor projects being undertaken by Ministries. This time the focus of the visits was the Cascade School and the Fisheries Sector at Providence and Ile Du Port.
The visiting delegation was led by the Chairperson of COGA, Hon. Bernard Arnephy.
The main purpose of the two site visits was to oversee the implementation of some projects in relation to assurances made in the National Assembly by the Minister for Education, Mrs. McSuzy Mondon in June and responses to these assurances concerning the renovation of Cascade School.
The other visit was related to assurances made in the National Assembly by Minister for Natural Resources, Mr. Peter Sinon in late 2012. These assurances included the construction of a 120-metre industrial quay at Ile Du Port and the on- going work at Providence to build processing facilities to increase value addition of fish products.
Officials from the Ministry of Education and the Planning Authority were present at Cascade School to provide information on the status of the work being carried out at the school including the construction of a wall around the school and diversion of the secondary road. The project has been delayed for various reasons but the Committee was satisfied with the amount of work that is already underway.
